Outdoor Kitchen Ideas Big and Small

Outdoor kitchens are all the rage. There’s nothing like an outdoor kitchen to enhance your patio. Cooking can be a fun endeavor, but outdoor cooking is a whole new world of fun. In this article, we’ll discuss how to create an outdoor kitchen that allows you to enjoy the outdoors.

Often people think that outdoor kitchens must be huge units equipped with refrigerators, sinks, grills, drawers, etc. This is far from the truth. And a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with expensive appliances can cost you up to $20,000. A basic grill corner may only cost you a fraction of that, about $2000.

Barbecue Corner

A barbecue corner is a “U” shaped enclosure built with wall blocks. This “U” shaped area will only hold the grill. There will be no room for other items. However, the walls are usually the same height as the grill side tables, so in essence, they provide you with additional table space. Some people will run a gas line to the grill area, others will keep it simple and just use propane.

Outdoor Kitchen Options

There are many options for kitchens. From sinks to coolers, the options are extensive. Let’s get started.

Sinks

Some clients will request a sink in their kitchen. I always steer them away from that option. Sinks need to be plumbed in. You must connect to the house’s plumbing system for it to drain properly. Some customers will say, “Can’t I just drain it to the back of the kitchen?” The answer is no. Doing so can cause critter problems due to the grease that can be left behind.

Refrigerators

When it comes to outdoor refrigerators, the price can be high. However, depending on the location of your outdoor kitchen, you may choose to build one indoors. It should work just fine if the sun is not shining directly on it. However, I can only talk to people who live in the Midwest.

Cooler

If you can’t afford a refrigerator, then a built-in cooler is the answer. They are perfect for holding snacks and ice. The cost is very tempting.

Drawers and Cabinets

When it comes to drawers and cabinets, I recommend that you purchase fully enclosed ones. The reason is that if you buy one with a rear opening, you will see all the ugly rough stones in your outdoor kitchen.

Ceramic Grills

Whether you prefer Comodo Joe or Big Green Egg. Ceramic grills are a popular item in outdoor kitchens. Instead of installing a ceramic grill exactly in the kitchen, it’s best to create a wide opening in which you can change the grill of your choice. The advantage is that you can take your grill with you. You won’t be able to use a metal grill because it is considered a built-in feature.

Grills

When it comes to grills, prices can vary widely. No need to go crazy about it. A budget of $2.500 is more than enough. Don’t be surprised to see the same size grill costing $10,000.

An outdoor kitchen can add a degree of coolness to your patio. But I hope this article shows you that you don’t have to spend 20L on an outdoor kitchen. You can choose to create space for your grill while creating a kitchen atmosphere. Good luck with your outdoor living space dreams.
